# RIDGELAND, Miss. — Magnolia State Health announced today the official launch of its Rural Telehealth Network, a comprehensive virtual care platform designed to connect underserved communities across Mississippi with board-certified specialists located in Jackson and Memphis. The network addresses a critical healthcare access gap affecting rural populations throughout the state. Through secure video consultations, patients in participating communities can receive expert medical guidance from cardiologists, endocrinologists, orthopedic surgeons and other specialists without traveling extensive distances. "This initiative represents our commitment to ensuring that geography is never a barrier to quality healthcare," said Dr. Sarah Mitchell, Chief Medical Officer at Magnolia State Health. "By leveraging telehealth technology, we're bringing specialized care directly to patients who need it most, reducing travel burden and improving health outcomes across rural Mississippi." The network currently connects 14 rural health clinics and community health centers with more than 40 specialist physicians. Initial implementation focuses on cardiovascular disease, diabetes management and orthopedic conditions—three prevalent health challenges in underserved areas. The platform features integrated electronic health records, prescription management capabilities and follow-up appointment scheduling. Magnolia State Health partnered with regional health systems and secured funding through federal rural health improvement grants to support startup operations and equipment installation.
