A critical call for change
"Service taught me discipline. Business taught me resilience. Bessemer taught me purpose."
"I believe true leadership is rooted in service, guided by listening, and defined by integrity. I'm running for Mayor of Bessemer because I deeply love this city and its people. Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more hopeful Bessemer for all."
As a U.S. Army veteran, eight-year Alabama state legislator, Bessemer City Council member, and small business founder, Louise Alexander has spent her life in service to this community. She's walked these neighborhoods, fought in the Capitol for Jefferson County, and built something from the ground up — and she's ready to do the same for Bessemer's City Hall.
Louise knows that real change begins with real listening. Her vision for Bessemer is built on three pillars: keeping our families safe, rebuilding our infrastructure, and creating opportunities for every resident to thrive economically.

From Louise
Some people see obstacles. I see opportunities to rebuild, rebrand, and move Bessemer forward.
This is where I was raised, shaped, and taught the value of community. I understand Bessemer — not just from reports or meetings, but from lived experiences.
Having served 12 years as a City Councilor and 8 years as State Representative, I know our challenges, and I believe deeply in our potential.
I believe leadership should serve, listen, and act with integrity. My campaign is about Rebuilding and Rebranding a Stronger, Safer, and More Hopeful Bessemer — for everyone.

THE PLAN
I don't believe in sitting around waiting for change. I believe in rolling up our sleeves, getting to work, and making things happen. Bessemer, let's get moving.
Public Safety
Demolish dilapidated houses, clear overgrown lots, ensure all garbage and trash is picked up on a routine schedule.
Install more lighting throughout the neighborhoods, increase police visibility and community involvement, and implement a Getting To Know The Neighbors Act.
Infrastructure
I will engage with CSX to address train blockages that impact our neighborhoods, businesses, emergency services, and daily commutes. I will also assess the road conditions in the neighborhoods and develop a priority list for repaving and resurfacing.
Rebuilding & Rebranding
I will work to create a tech corridor that positions Bessemer as a destination for innovation and opportunity. I will also make it a priority to connect with our small businesses — understanding their needs, removing barriers, and supporting their growth — because a thriving small business community is the foundation of a strong tax base and a stronger city.
Workers & Economy
I believe that anyone who shows up to work deserves to be fairly compensated. I will work alongside the city council to advocate for wages — for both city employees and private sector workers — that honor their effort and reflect their true value to this community.
When workers thrive, the entire city rises.
Rebuilding & Rebranding
Create a committee of citizens, business owners, investors, and bankers to sit at the table and build a comprehensive plan — including an entertainment district — that rebuilds and rebrands Downtown Bessemer with businesses that fit our community.
Moving Bessemer Forward.
